After visiting a city or country I usually make a few observations of things I’ve noticed. In Norway I noted:
v
The
country is expensive.
v
There
were many smokers on the
streets.
v
Restaurants were not service oriented.
v
Mornings
were misty, but by mid
morning it was clear.
v
There
were few high rise
buildings.
v
There
were many fountains in parks.
v
Chestnut trees
were plentiful
along the narrow streets.
v
Public restrooms frequent, easy to find and clean.
v
Drivers courteous and give pedestrians a break
v
The
Grand Hotel is across the street from the Parliament building.
v
The Stortinget is the parliament building,
although today it is too small to accommodate all members, so they often meet
elsewhere.
v
The country welcomes Americans.
v
Daylight hours are long in summer.
v
English is commonly spoken.
v
Outdoor cafés abound.
v
Public transportation is good, fast and
efficient.
v
Most buildings are made of stone.
v
The tourist industry is booming.
v
Cars and trucks are small, but buses are
large.
v
Cities are spotlessly clean.
v
All cities have outdoor produce / fish
markets.
v
Cities are easy to see on foot.
v
Pony tails are common on men.
v
Rarely heard car horns.
v
Cabs accepted credit cards.
